Hello Everyone,
Welcome to our Autumn newsletter.
We have a great selection of art workshops to tempt you: art from the start, printmaking, gesso panels and stained glass, all based in North Dalton. 
Please also note our new start month for lectures in Beverley and York, now October and we finish the series in May 2020.
Our residential trip in Sept 2020 is to a part of England that we lived in for nearly 20 years, the Kent and Sussex borders, and know and love so well. 
We also have several events to look forward too, so please check below for further details and do be in touch if you want to book.

The Lecture Series Beverley and York: Memorial Hall, Beverley, 10 am to 12 noon, Bar Convent York 2 to 4pm
£7 per lecture on the door,  Oct ‘19 to May ‘20:  £45 for the series of 8, valid till April 2020

Events and Visits for Autumn 2019:
21-22nd and 28-29th Sept :10am-5pm East Yorkshire Open Studios 
Come and visit us and other artists over the two weekends for a wide range of art works to view and buy. Do look on website: www.eastyorkshireopenstudios.org for your chosen artists.
15th Oct: Monks Walk, Beverley 6.30pm Launch of Valerie Thornhill’s latest book: ‘Mastering the Sun’
This will be a informal event  with a chance to hear Valerie talk about her latest book  and perhaps buy a signed copy too.
16th Nov: The Old Chapel North Dalton Other Lives Production ‘Landmarks’ 7.30pm
We warmly welcome you to this imaginative production  with supper at our house, book early £17.30 including supper.
13th Dec: Christmas Visit and lunch at Castle Howard
By popular request we are returning to this venue for their Christmas lunch in the private dining room and tour of the spectacular decorations too.  Cost including tour and lunch and coach £60, again book early limited numbers

Residential Trip Sept 1-5th 2020: Tudor to Surrealism bordering Kent and Sussex 
A wide ranging but linked trip including the following: Knole and Sissinghurst – homes of Vita Sackville West; Charleston and the Bloomsburys; behind the scenes at Glyndebourne,  18th C Glynde Place and Firle Place; Great Dixter and the gardener Christopher Lloyd; Farley  Farmhouse, home of Surrealist Roland Penrose and model/photographer Lee Miller plus Gravetye Manor home of gardener William Robinson.
Accommodation, coach and half board, Price in region of £725. Please ask for full itinerary 

ART COURSES AND WORKSHOPS FOR AUTUMN 2019 IN NORTH DALTON
All these 10 week courses include art materials tuition, teas/coffees and home made cakes.
Oil Techniques  3 Continued, Mons 10am to 12.30pm: 30.09.19 to 09.12.19   £140 
With Robin you will continue with further paint techniques developing your own drawings into your oil paintings, exploring  those  techniques and skills in greater depth. 
Introduction to Oil Techniques,  Mons 1.30pm to 4.00pm:  30.09.19 to 09.12.19   £140
Robin will encourage new  artists to explore a range of skills and techniques available each week structured and positive sessions.
Texture in Paint, Weds 10am to 12.30pm:  02.10.19 to 11.12.19   £140
With Rose you will work from observational starting points from a selection of drawing media, both wet and dry to create  individual  artworks emphasising the use of texture in a range of  paints and tools creating dramatic pieces. 
Further  Approaches to Oil Painting, Weds 1.30pm to 4pm: 02.10.19 to 11.12.19   £140
For those  who want to develop their oil painting skills using this traditional material but on a more personal  basis, including developing compositional skills  and techniques already explored with Robin in this versatile medium. 
Coming to Grips with More Drawing Thurs 1.30pm to 4pm: 03.10.19 to 05.12.19,  9 weeks  £125
Robin, a most enthusiastic and encouraging tutor, will be running this 9 week course. Though it is not for complete beginners, it is designed further to develop observational skills using a range of media with a view to future interpretation.     

Extend your creative side with these inspirational weekend workshops.
All materials and refreshments provided. Just bring a picnic lunch  10am to 4pm  Prices vary.  Deposit £15
Art From the Start: Saturday/Sunday 26/27th October Special price for the 2 days £75
An ideal course for those amongst you  who have always wanted to explore your creative side but life has got in the way. Rose will lead you gently to develop those skills  hidden inside to give you confidence. You will be encouraged to work in a range of media and it might even change your life!
Gesso Panels: Sat/Sun 12/13th October £55 per day or £100 for the two days
Inspired by Margaret Macdonald’s magnificent gesso panels with imaginative designs, you can create your own versions and designs in this unusual and most decorative art/craft technique.
Printmaking:  Sat and or Sunday  23/24th November £55 per day or £100 for the two days
With Rose as an experienced printmaker to guide you through a range of techniques from lino, wood, drypoint, collagraphs, with and without a press; you will be amazed at what you have produced by the end of the weekend, or even in one day, it just all goes too quickly. Great to create a special print as a present for yourself or others.
Stained Glass: Sat 30th November £65
We are so fortunate in being able to  welcome Pam Gilmour back to work with those of you who have experience of stained glass making; so do make the most of this opportunity to benefit from Pam’s expert and gentle encouragement. Limited places.
